Description

Co-hosted by the Greater Pittsburgh CIO Group and the Pittsburgh Technology Council, the CIO of the Year program honors individual technology executives from industry, non-profit, academia and government. Nominees, including chief information officers or those in equivalent positions, are recognized for their innovation and creativity in planning and deploying their enterprise systems, future technology goals, management philosophy and service to the industry and community.

Speaker

Abbie Lundberg, Former Editor, CIO Magazine

Abbie Lundberg led the award-winning CIO editorial team from 1995 through 2008. Under her stewardship, CIO became the publication of record for chief information officers and all executives interested in the use of information technology for business value and competitive advantage.

A leading expert on the major technology and business issues of the day, Lundberg has been quoted by The New York Times, CNN, USA Today, Time, Reuters, Fox News and Investor's Business Daily. She appears frequently as a speaker and moderator at key industry events. These have included the Global E-Commerce Conference at the United Nations; Working Together: an Industry-Law Enforcement Dialogue, sponsored by the National Infrastructure Protection Center of the FBI; the WITI (Women in Technology International) Professional Women's Summit; various Homeland Security events; and many of CIO’s own conferences, symposia and retreats. She testified at the US House of Representatives hearing, “The Impact of Litigation on Addressing the Year 2000 Problem.”

B2B Media Business named Lundberg “Top Editor” for its inaugural Innovators Award in 2004, and she has appeared frequently on Technology Marketing magazine’s list of Top Journalists and Media Influencers. Under her leadership, CIO has received over 200 editorial awards for both print and online, including the Grand Neal, American Business Media’s top honor, in 2003 and 2004; Best Website from ABM in 2006; Best Online Community from the American Society of Business Publication Editors in 2003, and Magazine of the Year from ASBPE in 1999 and 2001.

Lundberg has served as a judge for the MIT Sloan School's eBusiness Awards. She is a member of the American Society of Magazine Editors, American Business Media and the American Society of Business Publication Editors. Prior to joining the magazine, Lundberg worked as an editor for CBS Magazines and King Features Syndicate in New York. She earned a bachelors degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
