Electric Owl Studios Collaboration with the Penguins Stems from Tech Council Introduction.

Electric Owl Studios

To build local business, Electric Owl Studios turned to the Pittsburgh Technology Council to fill its work pipeline.

Electric Owl Studios specialized in creating a child-friendly world in which the latest digital technology meets fine art in an attempt to push the boundaries of traditional children's entertainment. Their work focuses on building intuitive, unique applications for kids that inspire creativity and exploration. Electric Owl believes that each child has a natural, creative instinct and has made it their job to provide an outlet for that expression.

Challenge

Electric Owl was looking to make connections in Pittsburgh in order to fill its work pipeline for Fall/Winter 2008. The Electric Owl team was looking for a medium-term project to keep the company afloat into Q1 09 with the possibility of an ongoing relationship.

Solution

The Pittsburgh Technology Council was holding meetings where member companies could pitch their technologies to the Penguins. From these meetings, a connection was made with some key members of the Penguins' marketing team, and Extra Attacker was born.

Results

Electric Owl and the Penguins unveiled Extra Attacker in early January 2009. Nearly 11,000 fans are now playing the game. Because of this success, plans are being made to expand the game with new features. Check out Extra Attacker Fantasy Hockey at www.extraattacker.com.
