Attending CEO Retreat Gives Vivisimo Founder Insights and Networking Opportunities
Vivisimo
Vivisimo started attending Council events to learn from others and tell their story to other Council members.
Develops enterprise search software to improve workforce productivity, streamline business processes, raise customer satisfaction and increase sales.
Challenge
Three computer science researchers from Carnegie Mellon University joined forces in 2000 to create Vivisimo, a leading provider of search solutions for enterprise companies and governmental organizations. In eight short years, they’ve landed some very large clients, such as usa.gov, nlm.com, Johnson & Johnson, Schering-Plough and Procter & Gamble. Like other growing companies, they wanted to improve their recruiting efforts and local networking opportunities plus find professional development for their staff.
Solution
Vivisimo started attending Council events to learn from others and tell their story to other Council members. They also started using the Council’s career center.
Results
Vivisimo’s CEO, Raul Valdez-Perez attended the Pittsburgh Technology Council’s CEO Retreat and walked away with new thoughts on how to test perspective employees. By scouring through the Council’s resume data base, they’ve found talented individuals who were looking for a job that would let them move back to Pittsburgh.
