The Lightfoot system combines compact, track-based agile robots with sophisticated computer software that optimizes the order selection process. The robots essentially learn from its environment and pick individual cases of products from pallets located in traditional pallet racking and place the cases on a conveyor for routing to the facility’s loading dock. The system includes intelligent management software that improves the picking process, provides guidance for improved stock positioning, and manages stock replenishment in real time.

Sim Ops Studios is team of creative game and simulation developers who are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of interactive media. A spin-off company from Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center, Sim Ops Studios’ mission is to turn the editing and sharing of virtual worlds into an everyday experience. The Wild Pockets platform, shown above via a small interactive demo, enables full 3D graphics to run in a web browser. Sim Ops will be launching www.wildpockets.com as a destination Web site where anyone can use the platform to create their own 3-D experiences, casual games, personal spaces, simulations, etc., which they can share with their friends in a similar fashion to how YouTube lets users share videos.
