"The I's Have It!"
Innovation, Invention and Intrapreneurship

Friday, November 13, 2009

7:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Location: Chatham University

The PghTech Women NetworkTM has partnered with Chatham University for a Special Breakfast Event featuring Cathy Opsitnick, CEO & President of Management Science Associates, Inc. (MSA). Ms. Opsitnick’s talk will focus upon MSA's ongoing commitment to intrapreneurship, so that "would-be entrepreneurs" can be equally innovative within MSA. She will outline some of the ways in which MSA energizes employees to think outside-the-box to create services & products of value to its clients and other prospective users. MSA's Innovation Center features results of its R&D and other innovations created or supported by various ad hoc teams of MSA employees.

MSA's focus on continuous growth, using increased R&D and innovations to absorb any slack in client assignments, motivates employees to look for meaningful opportunities to increase revenue/profits and avoid "make work" as a potential solution to avoid layoffs. This focus also assures clients about MSA's ability to continue providing quality services during and after the current recession.

Cathy plans to share information about her unique career path, views on women in leadership, thoughts on achieving cost-effectiveness in R&D and innovations, and ideas as to how Pittsburgh might be able to better capitalize on its unique advantages.

Check out the presentation from PghTech Women Network TM Women in Leadership Breakfast featuring Judith Giordan, Managing Director, Steel City Re, LLC.
