British Airways Announces Flights Between Pittsburgh And London
British Airways has announced a new service between Pittsburgh International Airport and London Heathrow, offering Pittsburgh travelers nonstop flights to London. Beginning April 2, 2019, the flight will be the only nonstop service between the two cities. It will operate four days a week and tickets are available to purchase on ba.com starting today.
Customers will be able to fly to London on one of the newest aircraft in British Airways’ fleet, the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Travelers will also have the opportunity to connect quickly and easily onto one of more than 130 plus destinations to which British Airways flies.
The flights will operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays with BA171 departing from London Heathrow at 5:00pm and landing into Pittsburgh at 8:15pm. BA170 will depart Pittsburgh at 10:00pm, arriving into London at 10:35am the following day.
Simon Brooks, British Airways’ senior vice president for North America, said: “British Airways is very excited to be returning to Pittsburgh and offering travelers a nonstop service to London and easy connections to Europe. Both cities have rich histories and bright futures and we look forward to welcoming new customers from Pittsburgh onboard very soon.
“British Airways is investing millions of dollars in the customer experience on the ground and in the air, with a new Club World seat next year so this is a great time to launch this service”.
“We are so pleased to welcome British Airways back to the Pittsburgh region, and I thank our new airline partners for recognizing our regional renaissance and demand for nonstop service to London,” said Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. “The business and leisure connections between Pittsburgh and the U.K. are numerous and this flight will be an economic driver for both markets.”
“We are thrilled to have British Airways serving our region nonstop to London once again,” said Christina Cassotis, Pittsburgh International Airport CEO. “Thank you to British Airways for selecting Pittsburgh and recognizing that our region is back. We are looking forward to working together to ensure the flight is a success.”
British Airways’ state-of-the-at Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft accommodates 214 customers across three cabins, with 154 seats in World Traveller (economy), 25 seats in World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and 35 seats in Club World (business). All customers will be able to enjoy free meals, beverages, individual widescreen TV screens with complimentary on-demand entertainment, and a free checked bag.
Designed to enhance customer wellbeing, the new fuel-efficient aircraft operates with a lower pressurization, reducing the effects of jet lag for customers.
A joint business agreement between American, British Airways, Iberia and Finnair allows members of the AAdvantage, Executive Club and Plus programs to earn and redeem points or miles on codeshare flights across the airlines. Customers also get access to great prices across all four airlines with the ability to mix and match flights to get the best deals and enjoy smoother connections for onward flights through coordinated schedules.
