Connected Health Announces Connected Heart Screening Program

Submitted by Connected Health

Connected Health, Wexford’s Concierge Medical Practice announces their Connected Heart Screening Program. The primary goal of the program is to identify athletes who have undiagnosed or unrecognized cardiovascular abnormalities that place them at a higher risk for Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). The program includes an in-depth physical exam, EKG (electrocardiogram), and Echocardiogram.

“We have all heard the stories – a young person collapses at practice and suffers sudden cardiac arrest. It is absolutely devastating. These are often-avoidable tragedies and why I am so passionate about young people having extensive heart examinations as part of routine sports physicals. No young life should be lost because of an undiagnosed cardiac condition," said Betty Rich, CEO.

As parents prepare their athletes for summer leagues and the upcoming fall sports season, Connected Health physicians emphasize the importance of a comprehensive sports physical. “Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the leading cause of death in the student-athlete. I strongly believe in a thorough physical exam which should include an in-depth heart screening for all athletes before clearing them for play. And now with endemic COVID infection impacting the school space, and the established link between COVID infection and potential cardiac complications, a more complete physical examination, including cardiac assessment, becomes even more important,” said Chris Conti, MD, Connected Health.
