Mesta: Cutting-Edge Technology and Products Emerge from Outstanding Engineering

Pittsburgh State of the Industry ReportMesta Electronics is located near Pittsburgh in North Huntingdon Township and specializes in the design, development and manufacture of advanced power quality and power conversion equipment.

Mesta Electronics was founded in 1977 as a consulting firm to meet the increasing demand for sophisticated electrical inverter designs and industrial controls.  Since its inception, Mesta has evolved into an innovative design and high-tech manufacturing firm concentrating on sophisticated power conversion equipment.

Mesta’s products offer innovative design, superior efficiency and exceptional reliability, ranging from highly advanced Active Harmonic Filters to extremely precise Induction Heating Inverter power supplies. Mesta’s products are used in a variety of applications across a wide range of different industries; the Induction Heating Inverters are prominent in crystal and material growth markets, while the active harmonic filters are used in diverse industrial applications for manufacturing, water treatment and power facilities.

The Mesta Induction Heating Inverter is a 380-480V, 50/60Hz, 3-phase power conversion solution that produces a 10 kHz, single phase, 200-1,000VAC from 25-100KW that are used to drive specialized induction heating furnaces.  These furnaces are used in the production of crystals and other materials such as silicon, silicon carbide, fiber optics, etc.

The Mesta Active Harmonic Filter is another 208-480V, 50/60Hz, 3-phase power conversion solution that is used to reduce electrical harmonic distortions that are generated by industrial electronic equipment and controls, such as AC/DC motor drives and other non-linear loads. The Active Harmonic Filter actively monitors the load characteristics in real-time and dynamically produces correction currents up to 600A (3,000A in a parallel configuration) to minimize the harmonics that impact the utility grid.

Mesta’s cutting-edge technology and products emerge from our outstanding engineering and production teams. From initial design to final shipment, our products are extensively tested to meet and exceed customers’ requirements and industrial standards. Mesta strives to make advanced technology, high reliability and customer satisfaction synonymous with the Mesta name.

In 2021, Mesta Electronics was acquired by Hammond Power Solutions (HPS). HPS is a North American leader for the design and manufacture of dry-type standard and custom engineered magnetics and power quality solutions, including transformers, reactors, active and passive harmonic filters and dV/dT filters. Leading edge engineering capabilities, high quality products, and responsive service to customers’ needs have all served to establish HPS as a technical and innovative leader in the electrical and electronic industries for over 100 years. HPS has headquarters in Guelph, Ontario and has operations in Canada, the United States, Mexico and India; this acquisition broadened HPS’ product offering and manufacturing capabilities in power quality solutions.

Mesta was founded on its engineering capabilities and locally manufactured power conversion solutions and continues to take pride when doing projects for clients. Offering a responsive and professional team of design engineers, manufacturing technicians, and a sales and support staff that all work seamlessly together to meet the most complex demands for industrial power quality and conversion solutions.
