The National Flag Foundation salutes Walnut Capital, the Pittsburgh Technology Council, Google and the University of Pittsburgh’s Human Engineering Research Laboratories for their partnership in hosting a globe-trotting American Flag on July 3, 2026, one of 13 community gatherings through the 4th of July across three counties of southwestern Pennsylvania.
“Pittsburgh is a place where revolutions begin, from the opening shots of the French and Indian War that led to the American Revolution through the Industrial Revolution and on to today’ revolution in Deep Tech and the Life Sciences. Bakery Square unites these themes in one of the final stops of the global sojourn,” said Romel Nicholas, chairman of the non-profit, non-partisan National Flag Foundation. “We are grateful to our partners at Walnut Capital, the Pittsburgh Technology Council, Google and the University of Pittsburgh’s Human Engineering Research Laboratories for their support of the Pittsburgh Regional Sojourn 250 by raising the flag over Google in Bakery Square on July 3rd to emphasize the Innovation Revolution underway across the Pittsburgh region.”
