BikePGH Announces “Learn 2 Ride”: A Free All-Ages Event to Teach Biking

Submitted by BikePGH

PITTSBURGH –  In partnership with CitiParks and POGOH, Bike Pittsburgh will be hosting three “Learn 2 Ride” events this summer at The Bud Harris Cycling Track from 4:00pm - 7:00pm on Friday. June 14, July 19, and August 16, 2024.

This rain or shine event is free to attend for all ages. Instructor-led group classes require pre-registration and are available for youth (5-12), and big kids through adults (12 and up). There will also be walk-up practice and a balance bike area for younger children.

“You’re never too young or old to learn to ride. This event will give people of all ages an opportunity to experience biking in a safe and inclusive environment,” says Ted King-Smith, Education Manager of BikePGH.

Information on biking and additional resources will be available, including The Official Pittsburgh Bike Map and E-BikePGH Guide. POGOH bike share will provide test rides as well as a tandem, tricycle, and low-step bike from their adaptive fleet for the public to test out on the track. Adaptive POGOH, Pittsburgh’s adaptive bike rental program, creates access to cycling for people of various abilities. Participants must be 14+ to ride POGOH bikes and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian if under 17 years old. For more information on Adaptive POGOH, visit www.pogoh.com/adaptive-pogoh.

This event is one of the many ways BikePGH provides education and safety resources to the community while also eliminating financial barriers to bike education. More information available at bikepgh.org/learn2ride
