Interview by Jonathan Kersting

Comcast announced it awarded $1 million in total grants to 100 Allegheny County small businesses owned by women and people of color, including Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, and Asian American owners, among others. The recipients are among more than 9,500 entrepreneurs nationwide who have been selected through the Comcast RISE program, which provides marketing, technology, and capital support to small business owners.

On this podcast, hear from Josephine Posti of Comcast about the impact of RISE in the Pittsburgh region. And, we talk to rise recipient Ellie Gordon, Founder of Behaivior, an artificial intelligence startup company which uses machine learning and automated just-in-time intervention to solve the problem of addiction.

Behaivior was recently named a Top 10 team in the third and final round of the $5 Million IBM Watson AI XPRIZE, and has received funding from Innovation Works, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and others.
